FM requests Ukrainian Govt. for more info on seven SL students rescued in Ukraine

The Foreign Ministry has requested the Ukrainian Government to ascertain the veracity of the news item with regard to the rescue of seven Sri Lankan students from Kupyansk Medical College in the Kharkiv region in Ukraine and to provide more information on it as a matter of priority, given the need to ensure the welfare of Sri Lankan nationals in Ukraine.

The Ministry is in close communication with the Ukrainian Government through the Sri Lanka Embassy in Ankara which is concurrently accredited to Ukraine, as well as through the Ukrainian Embassy in New Delhi, in order to obtain further information on this matter.

"Following developments in Ukraine, the Ministry has facilitated the return of over 90 Sri Lankans, including 16 students living in Ukraine, in the period February to June 2022, with the support of the Ukrainian authorities, and in coordination with the Sri Lanka Missions in Ankara and Warsaw," the Government Information Department said.

Indian government evacuated more than 20.000 thousand students as soon as possible ..a lot of Sri Lankan students too came home safely..why did not this government take any measures to bring home before ? Why couldn't we speak to Russia about it while that city was under its control ..It looks our diplomacy and FM are so slow when it comes to our people in abroad. Look how they treat our migrant and diaspora community..unless people in foreign ministry change our Sri Lankans abroad will suffer a lot. Thank for this atleast now

There is too much at stake for Sri Lanka to criticize Russia. Sri Lanka needs their oil and trade so probably this all will end up as a cover up. Bandula already offers his ass to Putin like a male whore. But in the end we will all be screwed. Sri Lanka is drifting further and further away from the democratic, free and developed world.

System fails we have no idea to provide effiecency accountability you just try to get basic stuff from any ministry or government sector's you will be running on circles the countries in a mess due to people who are purposely misleading to benifit in every possible way they love issues...issues make money majority are navi and helpless the skavanges are like valtures

To Jude: Maybe you are right, maybe Zelensky is lying. The Ukrainians are no saints neither. They prevented coloured people to flee Ukraine when the war started. The Kremlin is covering up serious crimes though. There is clear footage of this. The mainthing is : Russia invaded a sovereign country and killed thousands of civilians.
