A really beautiful aircraft with a comfortable seating layout. But why do the smugly grinning Sri Lankan media and industry leaders still walk around in black suits with ties and mostly white shirts, like at funerals? That went out of fashion a long time ago. These days, people go to such meetings dressed well but casually. The suits are also badly cut, which is particularly noticeable on the fat man. The Emirates employees' uniforms, on the other hand, are modern and well tailored.

If Emirates starts direct flights Colombo - London - Colombo all the ' Sri Lankan ' planes will have to be grounded because Sri Lankan airlines is a no service and highly expencive airline.

AKD should go on his knees and ask Emirates to take over The management of eternally money losing SriLankan airlines. Coz AKD funding SriLankan airlines with 20 billion rupees to Payoff part of SriLankan airlines Debt, now that's like milking a dead cow, yeah. AKD putting Good money after bad.

100% support should be behind OUR national carrier, and any airline trying to take its business should be side-lined. Emirates is sniffing around as it recognises the business it could muster with routes to Sri Lanka. We should not engage with them . however enticing. It will be the death knell to Sri Lankan if they steal our potential market. Support our airline, support our economy, support our country!

Use it as a learning experience. Make note of their plus points and try and adapt what we can to Sri Lankan airlines to improve it. Things can always be done without too much expenditure. Slow, gradual steps to build up the airline. Eg. Punctuality is one point that should be addressed.

In this function, the President of Civil Aviation of Sri Lanka , probably a JVP man spoke in Sinhala while all Emirates spokesmen who are UAE local spoke in good English. Was our Civil Aviation President trying to be in solidarity with AKD or He too is not able to deliver a speech in English? We have a Foreign minister who speaks English like ' You Come I Go, I eat ". While it is not wrong in speaking in Sinhala at Head of State level, one should communicate in a common language at an event organised by a foreign country to celebrate a new aircraft.
