Eight persons were seriously injured in an attack by a group of armed men at Kondavil in Kopay, Jaffna last night, police said.

The members of gang with their faces covered, gathered near a studio in Kondavil and started attacking the men with swords and machetes.

According to the police, the mob had severed the hands of some persons and fled the scene after setting fire to a three-wheeler and a car, causing severe damage to the studio.

The injured were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital with serious wounds.

The Police launched an investigation to identify and arrest the suspects. (Romesh Madushanka)
