Colombo, Nov. 21 (Daily Mirror) - Eight suspects have been arrested for allegedly attempting to sell an ancient artefact identified as the “Ravana Gala” for Rs. 50 million to an Indian national.
The arrests were made during a joint operation carried out by the Mannar Divisional Crime Investigation Unit and the Army Intelligence Unit, following a tip-off received by military intelligence.
The suspects were taken into custody after officers surrounded a house in the Palai Perumalkaddu, Vattakandal area, where the illegal transaction was reportedly being arranged. The artefact is believed to hold significant archaeological value.
Police also seized two vehicles used by the suspects during the operation.
