Donate one month’s salary for weather victims: Consumer Rights Movement urges ministers

Colombo, Nov. 27 (Daily Mirror) - The National Movement for Consumer Rights today called on parliament ministers to contribute one month of their salary to support people affected by the ongoing extreme weather across the country.

Movement President Ranjith Vithanage said the recent heavy rains and floods have left many citizens helpless, and even the government is struggling to manage the situation.

He said that ministerial contributions could be directed to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) to provide immediate relief and improve the livelihoods of those impacted.

They won't give a dime , they haven't given in the past, their party bank account is overflowing with kappan collection but never ever spent a single rupee for donation. They however spend for lavish international travel.

No one should tell another person what to do with their wages. Even with good intentions. Everyone has their own families to feed, bills to pay etc. However, a fundraiser with everyone donating what they willingly give is a better option.

This person has already set an example.He has been spending his own hard earned money to safeguard consumer rights in Sri lanka.So he has every right to ask Millionaire Ministers in this NPP Government to Donate their Salaries paid by Tax payers money
