Colombo, April 11 (Daily Mirror) - Welfare vouchers worth over Rs. 26 million were distributed among Sri Lanka Army personnel affected by the Ditwah cyclone at a special programme held at Army Headquarters.
The Army said that the initiative, organised in line with the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year, aimed to uplift the morale and improve the economic conditions of affected troops.
Commander of the Army, Lasantha Rodrigo, attended the event as the Chief Guest. During the programme, 1,933 Army personnel impacted by the cyclone were provided with welfare vouchers valued at Rs. 15,000 each.
The funds for the initiative were allocated through the Army Welfare Fund.
