Deluge to continue today and for next few days

The prevailing showery and windy weather conditions over the island are expected to intensify during the day today and the next few days, the Metrology Department said.

Accordingly, there could be showers exceeding 100 mm in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. 

Showers may occur in the Anuradhapura district and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening.

The general public are advised to take adequate precautionary measures to protect themselves from dangers caused by gusty winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
