Decades-old murder cases end with death sentences
April 02, Nuwara Eliya (Daily Mirror) - The Nuwara Eliya High Court sentenced four individuals to death in three long-running murder cases.
High Court Judge Viraj Weerasuriya delivered the verdict today (02).
A 47-year-old man was sentenced to death for a murder that was committed in the Nanuoya Police Division in 1998.
In another case, a 55-year-old man accused of killing his mother, wife and child in Pattipola in 2019 was also handed the death penalty.
In addition, a 64-year-old and a 62-year-old man, convicted of fatally attacking a person with a sharp weapon in the Bagawanthalawa area in 1990, were sentenced to death.
