The Transport Ministry has advised closing the Motor Traffic Department (DMT) offices in Narahenpita and Werahera branch for one week from Monday (3), Transport State Minister Dilum Amunugama said today.
He told the Daily Mirror that the decision was taken after nine employees tested positive for the COVID-19 virus following 100 PCR tests conducted in the DMT Narahenpita Head office.
He also said PCR tests will be conducted on the remaining 200 employees at the Department within the closed week.
The whole department will be disinfected and will re-open for public service by next week, the Minister said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
