Customs duty of Rs.3 for wheat flour removed, price will not increase: Minister
The Customs concession of Rs. 3 that was imposed on wheat flour has been removed and there will be no change in the price of wheat flour in the retail market, Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.
While addressing a meeting in Avissawella today he said by re-imposing the duty of three rupees per kilo on wheat flour, which is the main substitute for rice, wheat flour prices will be managed to protect the 90% subsistence level of paddy farmers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickarama)
