Colombo, October 1 (Daily Mirror) - Crimes like the murder of Wasim Thajudeen were not committed by Siripala or Gnanaratnam in the village, but by rulers who governed the country, Minister Bimal Ratnayake said today.
He told reporters in Anuradhapura that the law will be implemented against those invloved in the crimes acccording to the investigations, whether they are political activists or not.
Responding to a question whether action will be taken against the politicians who are said have been involved in the murder of Thajudeen, he said action will be taken against them whether they are political activists or not.
"These crimes were not committed by Siripala or Gnanaratnam in the village. These crimes were committed by the rulers who governed the country. They covered up the crimes and swept them uder the carpet. Wasim Thajudeen was murdered in 2012, the bond scam was committed in 2015 and the Easter Sunday bomb attacks in 2019. The law will be implemented according to investigations wherher those invloved are politcal activits or not," he said.
The Minister said the government will not intervene in the investigations regarding these cirmes.
