Colombo, Dec. 16 (Daily Mirror) - Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today urged President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to create a Ministry for disaster management to be in charge of preventing and managing disasters.

Speaking to the media after visiting disaster affected persons in Ibbagamuwa in the Kurunegala District, Premadasa said there should be proper coordination between institutions which are responsible for preventing disasters, such as the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and the National Building Research Organisation in order to mitigate disasters.

Good proposal from opposition leader, such a ministry is needed in our country. In addition, a ministry is needed for the bankrupt opposition parties to salvage them. The latter proposal is necessary because all opposition parties' support is close to ZERO.

There is enough and proper coordination between institutions which are responsible for preventing disasters, such as the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and the National Building Research Organisation as the Ministers in the govt does not want to outdo each other and are working as a team. THAT IS WHY THE CURRENT EXCELLENT POST CYCLONE PROGREES TOWARDS RECONSTRUCTION. Just idle comment by SP as he has nothing to do.
