Court stops AKD’s protest march

The Fort Magistrate has issued an order preventing National People's Power (NPP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake and six others from engaging in protest or demonstration in several areas in the Colombo Fort area from 12.00 pm till 6.00 pm today.

The Fort Police requested the Fort Magistrate that a group of protesters was planning to hold a protest march from the Fort Railway Station, which they said could cause inconvenience to the public and motorists.

Accordingly, the OIC of the Fort Police has requested the Magistrate to issue an order preventing the protest march.

Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered the protesters not to enter the President's Office, President's House, Finance Ministry, Central Bank, Police Headquarters, Olcott Mawatha between Fort Railway Station and CTO Junction, Lotus Road from CTO Junction to NSA Roundabout, York Street, Bank Road, Chatham Street, Mudalige Mawatha and Galle Face Green area and not to block the roads causing inconvenience to the public and motorists.

Allow protests to take place, without blocking, using, unnecessary pressure, deploying police and armed forces to prevent protest and marches. Processions without pressure will move smoothly and end unnoticed. CCTV cameras can record law breakers, then the forces could intervene to stop damage to government/public properties. Giving pressure to stop any scenarios, makes the protesters stronger.

Poor AKD , Ranil does not all8w him to do anything. AKD has to change his old tactics of protests and strikes if he ever dreams about becoming President of this country. Such tactics won't work anymore.

What a country and law is that prohibits public from having protest marches. Is the government scared of them.
