Contract awarded to upgrade Colombo Fort Railway Station
Colombo, March 24 (Daily Mirror) - The Cabinet has granted approval to award the contract for upgrading passenger facilities at the Colombo Fort Railway Station to MAGA Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, the government said.
The project will see the removal of existing footbridges at the Maradana and Bambalapitiya ends, with new bridges to be constructed, including access for persons with special needs.
In addition, new ticket counters integrated with the bridges and a three-storey service building will be developed under the project.
According to the government, initial Cabinet approval for the project was granted on June 2, 2025, following which bids were called under the national competitive bidding process to select a suitable contractor.
