Cobra causes panic inside Accident Ward at NHC
The sudden appearance of a cobra inside the Accident Ward of the Colombo National Hospital made all staff and patients jump in surprise and fear today.
Chief Nurse of the Colombo National Hospital, Pushpa Ramyani De Soysa said that security officers at the hospital had taken great efforts to capture the cobra before anyone was bitten.
“The cobra suddenly appeared in our accident unit. We put him safely in a bottle. A hole was made in the bottle to make it easier to breathe. After that we called the relevant places to receive the animals but no one came forward so in the end, a friend of ours finally agreed to take the cobra to a forest away from Colombo," she said.
She said although cats and several animals had appeared in the hospital before, this was the first time that a cobra appeared inside a ward.
She said that they had no idea how it was found there.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
