The All-Island Three-Wheeler Drivers’ Union (AITWDU) today said that they have decided not to announce any price revisions for three-wheeler fares over the fuel price revisions.

Addressing the media AITWDU President Lalith Dharmasekera said they are unable to change three-wheeler fares due to changes in fuel prices several times per month.

Therefore, the association announced that their members will get fuel from Sinopec Energy Lanka filling stations to cover their losses and provide a good service to their passengers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

The fuel consumption of a 3-wheeler is over 20 km/liter. Even if the petrol price increases by Rs. 20 per liter, the additional cost per km will be only Rs. 1. However, some 3-wheeler drivers habitually increase their fares by Rs. 10 per km.
