CSE records strong gains with turnover surging to LKR 9.29 Bn

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) sustained its positive momentum on Thursday, with the ASPI advancing 182.61 points (+0.86%) to 21,521.06 and the S&P SL20 gaining 21.52 points (+0.35%) to 6,102.58. Investor activity remained robust, supported by a healthy turnover of LKR 9.29 Bn as 261.28 Mn shares changed hands.

Crossings contributed LKR 1.75 Bn (18% of total turnover). The largest crossing by value was recorded in CHOT.N with LKR 410 Mn, while UBC.N posted the highest volume crossing with 25 Mn shares traded.

The Banking sector dominated activity, accounting for 24% of total turnover, mainly driven by NTB.N, which generated LKR 674.28 Mn.

Market breadth remained modestly positive, with 126 gainers against 96 decliners. On the index contribution side, SAMP.N emerged as the top gainer, adding 31.19 points, followed by CTC.N, CFIN.N, SFCL, and DIST.N. On the downside, CINS.N weighed most heavily, subtracting 12.20 points, with JKH.N, COMB.N, BIL.N, and NTB.N also dragging the index.

Among notable trades, JETS.N stood out with transactions worth LKR 725.12 Mn, marking a sharp 13.11% price gain and securing its position as the day’s highest turnover counter.
