CID probe into breach of Public Security Ministry website

Colombo, January 11 (Daily Mirror) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has initiated an investigation into a suspected cyber intrusion involving the official website of the Ministry of Public Security.

Police said several incidents of unauthorised access to the website were detected, prompting concerns that it had been targeted by external actors. A statement issued by the Police Media Division confirmed that the matter is now under investigation.

Sri Lanka CERT and the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) have since intervened to restore the website and strengthen its security.

Authorities noted that during the period of the alleged intrusion, abnormalities were observed in the appearance of the official state emblem displayed on the website.
