CEB trade unions suspend planned strike, continue work-to-rule

Colombo, Sept. 24 (Daily Mirror) - Several trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have decided to temporarily suspend the strike that was scheduled for tomorrow (25) in protest against the government’s decision to divide the CEB into four entities.

The unions had launched a work-to-rule campaign on September 4, based on several demands.

Union representatives said the strike was suspended following an agreement to hold discussions with the authorities. However, they confirmed that the work-to-rule action will continue until further notice.

Get lost unions, electricity is an essential service, so you cannot strike. You also cannot resign, you have to provide this essential service to the people. Failure to do so will be breaking the law with severe consequences. So use your head and act accordingly, you are not permitted to hold a whole country to ransom just because you work with electricity. Electricity is available everywhere in the world and such behaviour is not tolerated.

If they don't work cut their salaries for each day they do not come to work give them dead line and kick them out. The public are sick of this trade union strikes.
