CEB proposes 2nd electricity tariff revision for 2025, public consultations to follow

Colombo, May 21 (Daily Mirror) - The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has formally submitted a proposal for a second electricity tariff revision for the year 2025, marking another adjustment to the country’s power pricing structure within the year.

In response, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) announced plans to seek public input on the proposed revision through a series of provincial-level consultations.

The initiative aims to gather feedback from electricity consumers across the country before a final decision is made.

A detailed schedule outlining the dates and venues for these public hearings has been released and is available for reference. Members of the public, consumer rights groups and other stakeholders are encouraged to participate and voice their opinions on the proposed tariff changes.

This marks the second instance of electricity tariff adjustments in 2025, following an earlier revision introduced in the first quarter of the year.

The PUCSL noted that public engagement remains a vital part of the tariff revision process to ensure transparency and address consumer concerns.

For further details on the public consultation schedule and the proposed tariff adjustments, interested parties are advised to visit the official PUCSL website or contact their provincial offices.
