Brazil through as Three Nations make history



June.25 (Mirror Sports) - Brazil booked their place in the World Cup last 32 with a dominant 3-0 victory over Scotland, while South Africa, Canada, and Bosnia-Herzegovina celebrated historic breakthroughs by reaching the knockout stage for the first time.

Vinícius Júnior starred for Brazil with a brace, and Matheus Cunha added a third as the five-time champions secured top spot in Group C. The win also marked Neymar’s first appearance of the tournament after coming on as a second-half substitute.



South Africa produced one of the shocks of the competition, defeating South Korea 1-0 thanks to Thapelo Maseko’s second-half winner. The result secured a historic place in the knockout rounds and set up a last-32 clash with Canada.

Canada also made history despite a 2-1 defeat to Switzerland, advancing as Group B runners-up. Bosnia-Herzegovina joined them in the knockout stage after qualifying as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.

Elsewhere, Mexico completed a perfect group-stage campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over the Czech Republic, finishing top of Group A with three wins from three matches.

It was a memorable day at the World Cup, with Brazil underlining their title credentials while South Africa, Canada, and Bosnia-Herzegovina wrote new chapters in their football history.
