Bimal not stripped of Port and Civil Aviation: Deputy Minister

Colombo, Oct. 10 (Daily Mirror) - Minister Bimal Ratnayake was not stripped of his portpolio of Port and Civil Aviation but the portfolios were only reshuffled to reach the targets of the government more efficently, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha said today.

He told Parliament that Minister Ratnayake has been entrusted with new and more responsibilities and it will be informed shortly.

The Minister said this in response to a remark by Opposition MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam, who raised doubts whether Minister Ratnayake was removed due to the container incident.

Whether Bimal is stripped off or not of his portfolio of Port and Civil Aviation is immaterial for the general public as he is one of the ministers who is doing nothing other than being a big talker

A welcome move. He was purposefully refusing to develop Palaly airport and KKS harbour, despite the availability of an Indian govt's grant- not a loan like that in the case of white elephants in Mattala and Hambantota. Reason is that these are in the North. Petty politics is still ruining the economic benefits for the whole country.
