There is no need to build a bridge to link India and Sri Lanka at this time, but it is better to find a way to feed the people three meals a day, MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said.

Addressing the media, he said building a bridge connecting Sri Lanka and India might be harmful to Sri Lanka, as the country is still faced with many issues.

"Even though India has a developed economy compared to other countries, they also have certain internal political issues. There are issues of livelihood for the majority of the people in the country," he said.

Therefore, it is not suitable to adopt things from developed countries where they have solved their issues, the Field Marshal said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Fonseka is right when, in view of the still considerable misery of many people and the burdens that the country has to remove, he assesses the possible construction of a bridge connection to India as wrong! If the Ranil government is seriously striving for this building, this shows once again the lack of plan and concept of a policy that has made utopias and promises of the future into current policy and consciously ignores the burdens and hardships of the majority of people !!!

Negative minded islanders do not think out of the box ,always wants to be closed like the frogs in the well. connecting to India is connecting to half of the world by road ,they don’t see huge potential and opportunities. We can import and export good through road ,attract many tourist and we can also visit many countries by road . Indian driving from India to London ,there a freight trains from china to Europe. Uk France tunnel , multiple bridges over Bosporus in Istanbul to connect Europe to asia ,they don’t see these but to satisfy the ego of majority and be like this forever .if india is ready to spend why do we worry about it
