Bambalapitiya Marine Drive accident injures five

Five persons were injured and hospitalised following a road accident on the Bambalapitiya Marine Drive at around 2:30 a.m. today.

According to the Bambalapitiya Police, the incident took place when a lorry travelling from Wellawatte towards Kollupitiya veered off course and collided with two cars that were parked on the side of the road. After the collision, the lorry continued moving and ultimately came to a stop on the nearby railway tracks.

The five injured individuals were rushed to hospital for treatment. Police are conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
