BOC confirms Rs. 263 mn erroneously remitted to contractors due to ‘system error’: Namal

Colombo, April 27 (Daily Mirror) - Despite the government's refusal of the allegations of the Road Development Authority (RDA) payments being duplicated, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa said a Bank of Ceylon ‘Recall of Funds’ notice confirms that Rs. 263 million was erroneously remitted to contractors due to a ‘system error.’

The MP said in a post on X that over Rs. 51 million is still missing.

He said while Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena calls the allegations of duplicate RDA payments "baseless," official records tell a different story.

"A Bank of Ceylon ‘Recall of Funds’ notice confirms that Rs. 263 million was erroneously remitted to contractors due to a "system error." Over Rs. 51 million is still missing," he said.

"How can Minister Bimal Rathnayake justify this blatant denial in the face of such clear evidence? From Treasury "email fraud" to RDA "system errors," the government should accept the truth rather than hide behind ego. It is time to put aside arrogance, stop covering up their incapacities, and be genuine with the people," he said.
