Colombo, July 21 (Daily Mirror) - The Examinations Department has called for applications for the Second Efficiency Bar Examination for Sri Lanka Teachers' Service officers serving in national and provincial schools, scheduled to be held in September 2026.
The relevant Gazette notification was published on July 17, 2026, while online applications will be accepted from July 20 to August 10 through the official website of the Examinations Department.
According to the notification, teachers who were directly recruited to Grade 2-II of the Sri Lanka Teachers' Service based on a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree, as well as those promoted or appointed to Grade 2-II after initially being recruited to Grade 3, are required to complete the II Efficiency Bar Examination before completing four years of service in Grade 2-II.
In addition, teachers who had not completed the Second Efficiency Bar Examination before June 30, 2025, but were promoted to Grade 2-I subject to fulfilling that requirement, must pass the examination to qualify for further promotion to Grade 1 of the Sri Lanka Teachers' Service.
The Department said the syllabus for the self-study modules related to the examination has been published on the e-Thaksalawa website of the Ministry of Education, as stated in the Gazette notification.
Candidates have been encouraged to prepare for the examination through self-study by accessing the learning materials available on the e-Thaksalawa platform before sitting the examination in September.
