An extraordinary gazette notification has been issued declaring that the Anti-Corruption Act will come into operation from September 15, 2023.

The Gazette notification has been issued by Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.

The Anti-Corruption Bill which was passed in Parliament recently provides provisions for the Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption the powers to engage in joint investigations with foreign countries and other foreign parties.

It should investigate cases with retrospective effect, there are many past and present parliamentarians, local councilors with allegations of corruption and money laundering should be investigated, awarding tenders overlooking lowest quotes meeting tender requirements too should come under this act.

We did have an anti corruption bill before this new bill. Hope the new bill is fool proof and the people tasked to implement it are not corrupt themselves.

How absurd these comments . When laws are not bought they make hue and cry of not taking action on corruption. Same guys write opposing comments even when laws are implemented. Instead why can't you guys, file cases against the corrupt in court if evidence is there.
