Colombo, March 19 (Daily Mirror) - The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) informed court that former SriLankan Airlines Board Director Shaminthra Rajapaksa and the suspect’s wife, Priyanka Niyomali, have been named as suspects in the case.

The Commission further stated that both individuals are currently overseas and though they have been notified to appear before the Commission and provide statements, they have failed to do so.

Accordingly, the Commission requested the court to issue warrants for their arrest.

Investigations have also revealed that funds related to the alleged transaction had been transferred to an account belonging to Shaminthra Rajapaksa.

With regard to the request for warrants against the two suspects, the Magistrate ordered that the case be called on March 24 to record evidence relevant to the request made by the investigating office.
