Primary Health Care and Epidemics and COVID Disease Control State Minister Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle appealed to affluent people in the country to join hands with the Health Ministry and to donate necessary medical equipment to the hospitals as the need for such medical equipment is desperately rising.

“The need of oxygen is rising in our hospitals and also they require ventilators as the ICU capacity too increases,” she told reporters.

The State Minister requested the donors to coordinate with the hospitals in their respective areas and provide the necessities accordingly.

“Everyone, who is generous and capable is welcomed to strengthen the efforts of the Government in containing the virus in the country,” she added.

The State Minister told Daily Mirror that she made the request as Sudarshini Fernandopulle. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Why not you all grant an amnesty to those who possess unaccountable money and get them to donate such money for the purchase of vaccines.

You had 1 year to prepare with the Rs 1Bn you collected from private sector. Instead the Govt let Rs 16Bn to be robbed from sugar and another Rs 1Bn from coconut oil. Rs 18bn from the above 3 could have build fantastic facilities and equipment for covid treatment. Now beg beg whilst we die on the corridors of hospitals.
