Colombo, April 14 (Daily Mirror)- The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department has issued a weather warning for thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-Western Provinces.
Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning can occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-Western Provinces, the Department said.
It said heavy showers of about 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Southern Provinces and in the Ampara district.
The Department said showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Eastern and Uva Provinces and in the Hambantota, Nuwara Eliya and Matale districts while several spells of showers may occur in the Northern and North-Central Provinces.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere over the island after 2.00 p.m., the Department said.
"Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Orovinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning," the Meteorology Department said.
