A/L student injured after jumping from school building in Bambalapitiya

Colombo, Nov. 11 (Daily Mirror) - A 19-year-old Advanced Level student has been hospitalized after jumping from the third floor of her school building in Bambalapitiya this afternoon (11), according to police.

The student, a resident of Moratuwa, is attempting the A/L exam for the second time this year. Police said the incident took place about fifteen minutes before the Biology paper was scheduled to begin.

Eyewitnesses told that the girl’s life was saved as she landed on a carpeted pathway, resulting in injuries mainly to her legs. She was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment.

Police investigations have revealed that the student had been experiencing fear and stress related to facing the examination. Statements recorded from her family members also supported this.

The effects of a broken education system. If this student can't pass the A/Ls her entire future is doomed according to the SL system. Best she stops the retakes and instead train for a marketable skills set for the sake of her mental health..
