Why do the 52 tamils want to go to Australia? Tamil Nadu, just next door is an easier voyage and considering TN is shedding so much tears for their alleged plight why not go there? Oh...I forgot there is no dole in India.

I wonder why there are no Australians coming in these run down boats to Sri Lanka. They probably come in their luxury yachts!! So you see the reasons everyone is trying to leave this paradise isle is because they know they have the opportunity to come back in a luxury yacht.I pity them however for very soon we are going to be the Miracle of Asia and we too will be travelling to Australia in our luxury yachts

Tilak exactly.. I think that's the point he's trying to make. The Tamil speaking Srilankans and Sinhala speaking Srilankan's are all looking for a easy way out not because any of them are being persecuted in here. These people whatever language they speak are giving our country a bad name.

Wonder what Good we gain by arresting them.. let them go and be done with. If they are looking for greener pastures and that is not available for them in SL why stop them, let it be Sinhalese Tamil or Muslim. Freedom of travel is a basic human right. Pretty soon they will travel in luxury cruise ships that are NOT STOPPED BY THE NAVY.. Why is SL worried of these people leaving as ECONOMIC refugees I wonder. For sure they are NOT people who are persecuted... and it is NOT rocket science..

The reality is that hundred thousands of present day Sri Lankans would leave the country for greener pastures if they could. Most will certainly have a better living standard if they go to a western country, which includes Australia and New Zealand. Professionals and other educated try this legally and others illegally. The urge to 'better' one's life is a human need and may even be a human right.I have met two Sinhalese who ended up in prison in WA. They had economic reasons. I can only imagine the many reasons why Tamil people try this perilous journey. Surely they have some idea that they could be arrested by police on land, by navy on the seas or end up dead in the ocean. Now I feel for them and salute their courage. I feel sad whenever I hear that they have been arrested. Who are we to condemn them?

Morons will not realize the harm these so-called refugees who want to leave to go and live on some other country's charity are causing the country. Soon we all will be classed as refugees and applying for a visa will get more difficult.
