54 arrested with narcotics at FB party in Belihuloya

Fifty-four individuals were arrested for use or possessing narcotic drugs at a party organised through Facebook, at a hotel in Belihuloya in Balangoda yesterday, the STF said.

The STF personnel at the Kahawatta camp and the Excise Department officers in a joint raid arrested the suspects. They were arrested following a tip off received to the Ratnapura Excise Superintendent.

The officers recovered, 20 pregabalin pills, 3 apple pills, 160mg of heroin, 300mg of cocaine, 50mg of crystal methamphetamine (ice) and 150 grams of cannabis from the suspects' possession.

The arrested suspects were handed over to the Ratnapura Excise Department for further investigations.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya
