53 IUSF students released on bail

Fifty-three members of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF), who were arrested last evening during the protest carried out at the Lotus Roundabout in Colombo, were released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dassanayake.

The suspects, who were produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, were released on a surety bail of Rs. 100,000 each.

However, the tenth suspect, Vishwa Dhanajaya was ordered to be remanded until November 8 as there is an ongoing court case against him. (Nimanthi Ranasinghe)
