2026 examination calendar released

The Examinations Department has announced the full timetable for national examinations in 2026, outlining what officials describe as one of the most tightly structured academic calendars in recent years.

According to the schedule, the 2025 GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination will open the year’s exam cycle, taking place from February 17 to 26, 2026. Education authorities note that this early placement marks a significant shift for students completing their O/L studies.

Two of the most competitive examinations will follow mid-year. The Grade Five Scholarship Examination is scheduled for August 9, immediately ahead of the 2026 GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examination, which will run from August 10 to September 5. The back-to-back scheduling is expected to intensify preparations for students seeking university admission.

In a notable update, the General Information Technology (GIT) examination—mandatory only for candidates sitting the 2027 A/L examination for the first time—will be conducted on October 24, reflecting ongoing changes in ICT-related assessments.

Concluding the academic year, the 2026 GCE O/L examination is set to take place from December 8 to 17, forming the final major exam event for thousands of students.

The Department stated that admission cards and further instructions will be issued in due course.
