111 more die of COVID-19: Death toll surges to 5,222

A total of 111 more COVID-19 related deaths that occurred yesterday (08) were confirmed by the Director-General of Health Services today pushing the death toll to 5,222.

According to the Government Information Department,55 females and 56 males are among the deceased.

Wondering if our Prez have any conscious to see these many people are dying daily. Guess not because they have relaxed everything for their own convenience.

The government is not united and can't seem to make a call to avert the greatest human tragedy that Sri Lanka has witnessed. This is the 'Trip Switch' moment where the country's healthcare is overloaded and if the trip switch is not turned off, the country will burn. The vaccination is a mid term control. While vaccination needs to continue, hedging all bets on vaccination program to avert the human tragedy is ludicrous to say the least. We need a immediate short term control - i.e. immediate lock-down to stop further spread. It will be written in the history books the government and the executive president who did nothing but turned a blind eye while 1000s gasped their last breadth :-(

The death toll in the Easter Sunday Bomb Attacks was 269. 5222 people have died to date due to the negligence of the Government in not ordering and administering the vaccines on time. The curses of the families of the victims of this callousness will fall on the leaders and their families.

The government of Sri Lanka thinks that the vaccination is the ultimate solution for this. Yet, it is likely that it will not be the case. Developed countries such as Australia still goes for lockdown as it is one of the best ways of preventing the virus to spread any further. While vaccinating people, you need to lockdown areas from time to time. I think that Gotabaya is too arrogant and his henchmen are clueless. We've seen some stupid deciosns were taken in the recent past.

This show the success control of COVID 19 and the success of vaccination program. They blame over 60 for not taking vaccines, but one must go to vaccination centres and see how SOME officers treat old people. One such example is the vaccination program held on 9/8/2021 at Maharagama Janadhipathi Vidyalaya. It was conducted my Maharagama MOH. I am an eye witness.
