1.5 million ’Aswesuma’ beneficiaries to receive payments
State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe said the government has initiated payments in stages for 1.5 million ’Aswesuma’ beneficiaries.
He said the programme is aimed at supporting two million beneficiaries who were in need of assistance.
In the first stage alone, a total of Rs 4.395 billion has been deposited into the bank accounts of 689,803 beneficiaries, he added.
"Allowances for the disabled, the elderly and kidney patients have been already paid," he said.
Meanwhile, the State Minister said that all inquiries could be made to the Aswesuma hot line 1924 from 9 am - 4 pm on weekdays.
