Two Sri Lankan nationals were among three persons arrested in Chennai yesterday (Monday) by Narcotics Control Bureau officials for allegedly possessing 660 grams of heroin, valued at about Indian Rs 60 lakh in the international market.

At least one person was killed and 4 others injured after a grenade attack on the residence and election office of the Minister of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Jayaratne Herath a short while ago. This is the fourth pre-election death.

Johnny mine injures civilian

A civilian had sustained injuries to his leg as he trampled a Johnny mine near the Puliyankulama Relief Village today. Police Media Spokesman  SSP I.M Karunaratne said that the injured was now in a stable condition and receiving treatment at the Vavuniya Hospital.

The Sri Lankan Military today refuted the charges raised by the Dublin tribunal on Sri Lanka saying the tribunal had not conducted a proper inquiry. The tribunal had charged that Sri Lanka was guilty of war crimes and also claimed that it had gathered evidence from some soldiers.
