Sri Lanka vs India Tour match: Match drawn

India BPXI rode on captain Sanju Samson’s century on the second day of the warm-up game to end the match in a draw against Sri Lanka in Kolkata. The home side was losing wickets at regular intervals but Samson blocked one end and scored runs at will.

He had small partnerships with Jiwanjot Singh, Rohan Prem and B Sandeep. He brought up his century shortly after Tea. The BPXI began on Sunday morning after Sri Lanka had declared their first innings at 411 for the loss of six wickets on day one. The visiting batsmen scored runs at will against the Indian side. Sadeera Samarawickrama made his case for selection before first Test with a 74-run innings off 77 balls

Sri Lanka batsmen made solid starts to their Indian challenge with four batsmen striking half centuries and three more hitting notable knocks against a depleted Indian Board President's XI on day one in their two-day game which began at the Jadavpur University ground in Kolkata yesterday.


Put into bat first the Lankans made a fine start with both openers Sadeera Samarawickrama (74) and Dimuth Karunaratne (50rtd) making half centuries. Angelo Mathews who is coming back to the side after a long injury layoff (50rtd) and Niroshan Dickwella (73n.o.) went on to reach their half tons. In addition captain Dinesh Chandimal (29rtd), Dilruwan Perera (48) and Roshen Silva (36n.o.) also found form. The first Test against India will begin on Thursday (Nov. 16) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The Indian BP XI led by Sanju Samson, includes Tanmay Agarwal, Jiwanjot Singh, Abhishek Gupta, Rohan Prem, Bavanaka Sandeep, Chama Milind, Jalaj Saxena, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Warrier, Akash Bhandari, Ravi Kiran and Anmolpreet Singh.
