Sri Lanka have recalled batsman Dhananjaya de Silva, left-arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara and seamer Nuwan Pradeep for the three-match Test series against India.

The series will begin in Galle on Wednesday.

De Silva’s return was expected after skipper Dinesh Chandimal was ruled out by pneumonia. Though, the highest scorer in Sri Lanka’s triumphant series against Australia last year, De Silva has struggled to strike form in recent months with his last eight innings fetching just 159 runs at 19.87.

Nuwan Pradeep last played a test against South Africa in Newlands where he failed to complete his 16th over when he left the field with a pain in his left thigh. Malinda Pushpakumara was in the squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh but did not play a game. Out from the squad are skipper Dinesh Chandimal, leftarmer Lakshan Sandakan who bowls the chinaman and seamer Dushmantha  Chameera
