Lisal Goonetileke clinches U14 title

Fourth seed Lisal Goonetileke clinched the Under 14 boys’ title of the 105th Colombo Tennis Championship when he recorded a convincing two sets to nil win over top seed Sandaru Guruge in the final played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo on Friday.

Meanwhile, in the semi-finals of boys’ and girls’ Under 18 category, top and bottom seeded players Thehan Wijemanne and Chathurya Nilaweera recording wins over Kiran Vairawanathan and Kavisha Ratnayake to enter the final, while in the girls’ event top seeded Oneli Perera and unseeded Vishmi Serasinghe made it to the final with wins against Hasali Gajaba and Saneshi Willoraarachchi. The championship will be continued tomorrow.

  • Under 14 boys’ - Lisal Goonetileke beat Sandaru Guruge 2-0 (6/3, 6/3)

Semi Finals:

  • Under 18 boys’ - Chathurya Nilaweera beat Kiran Vairawanathan 2-0 (6/1, 6/4); Thehan Wijemanne beat Kavisha Ratnayake 2-0 (6/1, 6/4)
  • Under 18 girs’ - Oneli Perera beat Hasali Gajaba 2-0 (6/4, 6/0); Vishmi Serasinghe beat Saneshi Willoraaarachchi 2-0 (6/0, 6/3)
