It's because of people like you who suck up to these idiots, that they think they can get away with anything. Obviously, this is not the first incident, and it won't be the last.
Just because they have alcohol, where does it give them the right to beat up people? If they do, the same civil law should apply to them, which in our country, doesn't.

    sandman Monday, 17 September 2012 08:34 AM

Malaka Sudu Putha or Malaka Kudu Putha !!!!!!!!

    Berty Monday, 17 September 2012 08:41 AM

    He did not assault the
    Major.
    Why did he then surrender?????.

Probably he felt sorry for the major.

    Yehiya Monday, 17 September 2012 08:30 AM

    Media must boycott ministers event.

    sp Monday, 17 September 2012 08:45 AM

you are correct 50%.But Why go to a private party with your ofiicial wepon. This is wht probably worries the Mjaor now?If he was on ofiicial duty, were proper records were made before he left his office?

    saman Monday, 17 September 2012 09:13 AM

correct, After that, major has to face army inquiry and he is the wrong person.

    sukumar Monday, 17 September 2012 09:16 AM

That is Ok. The issue is will an ordinary boy have the same protection and sympathy from the Police if he did this? Malaka has a heart of a lion but brain of a donkey. !!!!

    M Silva Monday, 17 September 2012 09:21 AM

    Chandi Bandi chandi bandi......

    Rania Monday, 17 September 2012 09:11 AM

Please ensure that they are given 5 star treatment and released soon as there are no witnesses!!! : )

Brindley Fernando Monday, 17 September 2012 09:09 AM

Hope the Police will take necessary action. We should not judge him at this stage as there will be a case against him. We shall
wait and see if justice is done.

    saman Monday, 17 September 2012 09:22 AM

    Well done Malaka puta!

Pramod Fernando Monday, 17 September 2012 09:18 AM

Father thinks that his son is "Lamaka" and not Malaka.

    Bagalawathiie Monday, 17 September 2012 09:47 AM

A hospital bed would be ready at Navaloka or Apollo Hospital to treat this innocent man for an irregular heart beat or spliting headache.

    Dexter Monday, 17 September 2012 09:45 AM

    We await your end....

    Eluwa Monday, 17 September 2012 08:32 AM

They will be produced after the Magistrate. Not before

    hashhhsl Monday, 17 September 2012 10:04 AM

Can the police give an explanation as why they failed to arrest him? I'm more interested in that!

    Rohan Monday, 17 September 2012 10:20 AM

@ ThisIsMyLanka. Why do you make a untrue comment about these goons? Are you looking for undue favors from them? Actions and comments from people like you help creating cowards look like hero's in the society. If you like to be proud of Lanka you should refrain from scum-bugs comments like this.

    Jayasiri Monday, 17 September 2012 09:58 AM

This is only a symbolic surrender. He can enjoy whatever while under custody and be treated like a hero.

    Don Monday, 17 September 2012 10:12 AM

Both are Thomians of Mount. What a disgrace. Malaka was sacked and Rehan left before he was sacked. Rehan is the son of late Mano Wijeratne and the current consulate to Turkey Mrs. Bharathi Wijeratne. I cannot believe this guy who hails from a family of respected people connected to the Balasuriyas from Kandy and Tudawes from Colombo. Lofty wijeratne and Ranjan wijeratne will be proud of you son!

Jahan Ashraff Monday, 17 September 2012 10:49 AM

What you see with your eyes and what you hear with your ears are lies, but after complete investigation truth will be released. If so the truth is Stage Drama [State Drama] Luxury Life in remand State issues ignored by people and they are keen to see Dr. Mervyn Silva's scandals. At the end Opposit drama deposits and Mervyn's son another Hero

    NiffyBoy Monday, 17 September 2012 10:42 AM

if this the case for people in legal power, then no need to say the plight of the general public. let justice prevail

    Nodrog Monday, 17 September 2012 10:32 AM

They should reserve two beds at Angoda for father and son.

    minnaabdul Monday, 17 September 2012 10:43 AM

Father may suffer a cardiac arrest

    SL_Demo Monday, 17 September 2012 11:10 AM

If I have assaulted the major i cant imagine where I can be now. I can remember how forces behaved when the lost the rugby match against Kandy team.
here it is licensed thugs from King_Banet, so army has no option but to keep their mouth shut

    bigsam Monday, 17 September 2012 11:25 AM

So this is the only way to get this thug - he has to surrender himself because our police cannot find him despite his public presence everywhere!

    bigsam Monday, 17 September 2012 11:26 AM

In this case, tying up the police is not a bad idea given their pathetic effort to arrest him.

    rajaraja Monday, 17 September 2012 05:24 PM

still you don't know Srilanka & it's police

    Puran Monday, 17 September 2012 05:33 PM

No the next time we hear of these two jokers the news will be that they are comfortbaly being "treated" in some fancy hospital ward.

    Want to bet?i

    C. Seneveratne Monday, 17 September 2012 04:48 AM

At last but the puppets clad in police uniforms will let him go unpunished

    Brampy Monday, 17 September 2012 03:08 AM

Well we want to know the sequence of event from now. The poor major will be asked to make a statement saying he request this goon to beat him up.

    John Monday, 17 September 2012 03:32 AM

Separate them and let them take on any able bodied man one on one. All these are cowardly uncivilized fools who behave like pack animals. They will all cry like babies and ask for protection from thug patrons in the regime.

    Manik Monday, 17 September 2012 03:39 AM

Hats off to everyone who made this thug surrender.

True Sri Lankan Monday, 17 September 2012 03:45 AM

Why he was not arrested so far...? Why we waited for his surrender?

    Kautilya Monday, 17 September 2012 03:41 AM

This is eyewash. They will be released on bail and the case will be heard (if any) in late 2013

    Malaka Monday, 17 September 2012 03:57 AM

no the real drama is on

    Salman Monday, 17 September 2012 03:45 AM

Father (Mervin)saying to Son: You have passed the first political science exam with flying colours. Now I can reward you with bail today/tomorrow. :)

    hemanth Monday, 17 September 2012 03:46 AM

Inquiry by Army against major? Why ? Can't servicemen go to private parties with friends? Don't Commanders go to clubs with friends? Should they wear uniform in such situations? Ultimately, the poor man will be punished and the culprit will go scot-free. That's what will happen!

The God Father Monday, 17 September 2012 03:59 AM

well said John, bet the OIC of slave island police station would have ordered the break fast for Malaka from Hilton.

    Firaz Monday, 17 September 2012 04:00 AM

"My son never assaulted an Army Officer" Why did he surrender.

    Kajaan Monday, 17 September 2012 04:06 AM

Soon after producing at court there will be news that they released on bail

Malaka Silva Monday, 17 September 2012 04:23 AM

    Ane Thaththi,

    Please bail me out soon.......

    Your Son,

    Malaka Sudu Putha

    Sammy Monday, 17 September 2012 04:34 AM

Took so many days to surrender! Did not the police go after him?

suny j fm Melbourne Monday, 17 September 2012 04:39 AM

    efficient police of Sri Lanka

    shi Monday, 17 September 2012 03:20 AM

he will com in bail tdy evening or tmo morning ..

Calistus Jayatilleke Monday, 17 September 2012 05:13 AM

Now is the time for the King of Kelaniya, "doctor" Maravin to visit the police station along with his band of thugs and tie all the miserable policemen to trees and "liberate" his son and his goons.

    Hussain Monday, 17 September 2012 05:54 AM

Is this for real or just for show. They will be produced before a magistrate and bailed out. They should be remanded till the case comes for a hearing in court. These men should be taught a lesson; that they cannot go around beating people with impunity. These things have been going on for far too long in S/L. It's high time it was stopped and lessons taught.

    W. Vann Monday, 17 September 2012 05:52 AM

Dont be alarmed. This is just another episode in the script.

buffaloa citizen Monday, 17 September 2012 06:43 AM

Conveniently he surrendered on Monday, so that bail can be organised by Tuesday or Wednesday.

    uaa Monday, 17 September 2012 06:47 AM

I am pained to see some harsh comments on the police force.

Are we all like that thug Malaka and his dad?. Yes, few bad apples spoil the whole police force. But, ....

Come on Sri Lankan Police, do some thing to cleanse the image

    ANTON Monday, 17 September 2012 06:50 AM

No they go after brothels as usual.

    sampath Monday, 17 September 2012 06:51 AM

I am pretty sure it was his father who told him to surrender, probably telling it was ok.

    ThisIsMyLanka Monday, 17 September 2012 07:06 AM

I have known him for a long time and you has a heart of a lion just like his father.

People sometimes fight after alcohol and drugs.. in any society. This has been blown out of proportion just because he is a ministers son.

He has done the right thing by surrendering.

    Sam Monday, 17 September 2012 08:08 AM

Rowdy Mervin brought up his donkey just like his father.

The rowdy donkey pay his gratitude to Army for saving our Mother Lanka by trying to murder them.

MR, have you become deaf and blind or do you need 5/6 th of the power to take action against these two bastards.

Pena Raththaran Monday, 17 September 2012 08:24 AM

What a shame on the Police. Buggers should be made to wear Shorts like in the colonial days. And white at that so that everyone can see their dirt. (Jarawa)

    muckgona Monday, 17 September 2012 08:16 AM

cos the officer was in civvies, MS admitted that M assaulted a civilian. Why was the "civilian" carrying a pistol?? In any event M and his mates need a long R&R at the Welikade Hilton.

    Silva Monday, 17 September 2012 08:42 AM

All arranged including his new girl friends with him due to that tool some . His father wll march to court with attorney general may be with justice minister

    Thilini Monday, 17 September 2012 08:19 AM

Just as a matter of interest ThisIsMyLanka, how much does the government pay you?

Are you paid on an hourly basis or a 'per comment' basis?
