Video: Keheliya explains failure to arrest Malaka

E-mail Print
Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said on Thursday that Malaka Silva, the son of Minister Mervyn Silva who was wanted in connection with the assault on an Army major had not been arrested while he was at the Kelaniya Temple as the police would have felt that arresting him in the sacred precincts of the Kelaniya Temple was not proper.

“Police would have thought that arresting him in the presence of the Sacred Relics was not etiquette,” he said.

The minister was replying to a question by a journalist as to why the two special police teams that had been deployed to arrest Malaka Silva, had not arrested him when he was at the Kelaniya Temple.( Ajantha Kumara Agalakada)

From all the comments one can see that people are totally disgusted abot this Malaka fellow's matter - and are now gradually losing faith in the government - including the President who has so far been held in high esteem by the people. The President and Mr Gotabhaya must immediately intervene and order that this Malaka fellow is arrested without any further delay and without any interference from his father, and get him locked up for good once and for all. I have been an ardent supporter of Mahinda Rajapakse - even before he became President - but I am gradually losing my faith in him and his government. This Malaka fellow's incident could be a turning point for the President and his government for his lack of action against this thug. I ernestly request the President and his brother Mr Gotabhaya to immediately order the arrest of this Malaka fellow and his other thugs and imprison them without bail.
