The Ambassador of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Saad Khattak today said the likely ban on Niqab in Sri Lanka will only serve as an injury to the feelings of ordinary Sri Lankan Muslims and Muslims across the globe.
In a tweet, the Ambassador said that at today’s economically difficult time due to COVID-19 pandemic and other image related challenges faced by the country at the international fora, such divisive steps in the name of security, besides accentuating economic difficulties, will only serve as fillip to further strengthen wider apprehensions about fundamental human rights of minorities in the country.
Minister of Public Security Rear Admiral (Retd.) Dr. Sarath Weerasekera said today that in addition to banning the burqa, the cabinet proposal would also include banning the niqab which covers the face of the wearer except the eyes. The burqa includes a full face cover, with a mesh on the eyes.

Every woman should have the right to wear what they like.

Niqab ,Burqa is not Islam according head quarters of Sunni sufi islam -Al Azhar ,Egypt ,rather its a Saudi wahabi culture even they are trying to change this as per latest orders by Salman but people should have the freedom to wear what they wish . instead of banning , Muslims must be educated on this .this was imported to srilanka through thabligi -ACJU wahabi preaching. If we ask any traditional scholars of Sunni Islam -Ahlus sunna wal jama face covering not needed under 4 accepted schools of Islamic law namely Shafi ,Hanafi ,maliki and Hambali

Narrated Safiya bint Shaiba: `Aisha used to say: "When (the Verse): "They should draw their veils over their necks and bosoms," was revealed, (the ladies) cut their waist sheets at the edges and covered their heads and faces with those cut pieces of cloth." (Sahih al-Bukhari 4759)

Not to worry ,- already god has made all to cover their faces chin up to nose bridge. We will see if corona (or a further mutations) will require a mandatory covering of the eyes and the head. --To quote Cowper "God works in a mysterious way , his wonders to perform......."---

We have had instances where men have posed as women. Let's be blunt. This is a security issue here in Sri Lanka! More lives will be lost unless we stamp out Wahabbism here! Unlike Pakistan, Sri Lanka is not an Islamic state!

Pakistan should start by respecting non-Muslims in their own country! How many Christian Pakistanis are living here due to persecution in Pakistan!

Niqabs and burqa are not Sri Lankan Muslim dress! So, why should we change our customs to Arab ones?

Being a Muslim, I am against the covering of the face by any person. How are you going to identify a person if a woman has covered her face. The situation presently taking the security situation, a person cannot cover the face. It is impossible to take away the cover off a person to identify her . Why are u co erring your face. What have u got to hide?

These face covered clothes may be good for desert countries but not good for terrorist infested Pakistan or, to Srilanka, where still sworn women suicide bombers roaming freely, under cover of burca
