Yasiru, Sheran shine in draw

An unbeaten ton by Yasiru Rodrigo for S. Thomas’ College and twin half tons by Sheran Fonseka for St. Joseph’s College were the highlights of the drawn Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter which concluded at Darley Road on Monday.

The second day’s play saw S. Thomas’ resuming from their overnight score of 344 for 9 going on to add a further six runs after Rodrigo reached his ton with the score on 350 for 9.

St. Joseph’s in their turn made 176 for 9 declared with Sheran making a top score of 92. Sheran made an unbeaten half ton which was his second, and Sadeesh Jayawardena scored 62, after St. Joseph’s were made to follow on whilst ending the day on 127 for 1.

The Under 19 inter-school cricket match between St. Anne’s College Kurunegala and Mahanama College Colombo ended in a tame draw at Kurunegala.
