Sports Minister Harin Fernando had a fruitful meeting with the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Shashank Manohar in Nagpur, India yesterday.
The Minister made the ICC Chairman aware about the cricketing activities in his country during this meeting.

“At this moment there was no agenda to seek his permission to have an interim committee. I am also not in favour of an interim committee,” Minister said.
“I have informed him about the steps taken by the new Cricket Constitution tabled before Parliament for the debate and way forward. And I also gave him the assurance that there is no political involvement.”

“Apparently, the ICC Chairman was happy with the discussions, my presentation and also the letter I brought from the Prime Minister, assuring the ICC the smooth governing of Sri Lanka Cricket.”

“I also promised him to update the ICC from time to time and requested the ICC to recommend the steps to be taken for the development of the game.”
“The ICC Chairman will also visit Sri Lanka in August with an invitation from the SLC President Shammi Silva,” the Minister added.
