Greed caused him grief!

This hanger-on posing as a loyal supporter of a high political authority had got an idea to make a fortune in double-quick time when he got privy to a top- level decision to levy a new tax on cigarettes leading to a price hike.  

He lost no time in raising a massive bank loan with the help of the political authority and importing a large stock of cigarettes which he held it back without releasing it to the market pending the anticipated price hike. 

However, a white-collar bigwig wielding much influence with top authorities had decided not to levy an additional tax on cigarettes thus shattering the high hopes of the hanger-on.

The hanger-on who felt that he was let down by the political authority had later started a whispering campaign against him.

Meanwhile, the political authority had instructed his aides not to allow the man to step into his office or residence in future, they say.
