This is a herb found in both dry and wet zones in Sri Lanka and is mostly used in treating skin conditions. Eth Thora leaves are used in treating colourless skin lesions (aluham). Several balms used in Ayurveda are made out of Eth thora seeds.

Benefits : While the seeds are known to contain glucosides its leaves are known to have a Virechana effect – a type of purification process and one of the healing therapies in Panchakarma.

Home remedies :

Skin lesions : Grind Eth Thora seeds with Dummala and apply the paste on affected area.

Gandamala treatment : Take Eth Thora root bark and mix with Keekiridiya juice with mustard oil. Once the oil has been absorbed, add Sindura and apply in affected areas.
Ringworm : Directly apply leaf paste for relief.

Constipation : Take a dried Eth Thora flower, crush and take with honey.
