Restaurateur arrested for letting students smoke shisha

10 students aged between 15 and 17 years smoking Shisha in plain clothing

An owner of a restaurant at a luxury shopping mall in Colombo was arrested by the Police yesterday afternoon for letting a group of 10 teenage schoolboys of a leading Colombo school to smoke Shisha at the premises.   

The police commenced probe after finding a social media video uploaded by these students enjoying Shisha at the restaurant, whilst having beer on an earlier occasion.   
They said the restaurateur who owns three restaurants at the shopping complex, would be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate.   

Meanwhile, the police said at least 10 students who were aged between 15 and 17 years who were smoking Shisha were in plain clothing at the time of their arrest, They will be sent for quarantine for 14 days.   

The Fort Police also recorded statements from these students and are conducting further investigations to determine as to how these underage boys were allowed to smoke.   
Shisha usually contains tobacco and also called narghile, water pipe, hookah or Hubble bubble smoking originate from the Middle East and certain areas of Asia. It is a way of smoking the vapor of burning tobacco passing through a bowl of water with a hose or tube.
