Police seize foreign liquor and cigarettes

• The suspects had been operating under the pretext of providing essential services

A stock of foreign liquor and cigarettes was seized and four suspects arrested by the Raddolugama Police during a raid carried out at Wetthewa in Raddolugama. Investigations had revealed that the suspects had been operating this racket under the pretext of providing essential services.  

Among the contraband seized were nine bottles of foreign liquor and 400 foreign cigarettes, The lorry transporting the stock of contraband was taken into police custody. 

The suspects found to be residents of Dandugama, Jaela, and Keswala were produced before the Negombo Magistrate yesterday.
